Silent Auction to Benefit Student Travel Awards
As an academic community, the Whedon Studies Association believes in providing mentoring and other support to students, both graduate and undergraduate, interested in studying the works of Joss Whedon. One way that happens is through competitive travel awards which enable student scholars to attend the biennial Slayage Conference on the Whedonverses. At this year’s conference, the WSA will be holding a silent auction to raise funds for these travel awards. We have received many great donations (e.g., a “Grr Argh” cutting board, Serenity ice cube tray, and Firefly cookie cutters), but there is room for more. If you are a Whedon fan, Whedon scholar-fan, or Joss Whedon himself, we would appreciate your donations of Whedon-related merchandise or crafts, including anything autographed by the man or his crew. If you would like to donate, please contact the WSA treasurer, Cynthia Burkhead, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks to Cynthia and Sarah Michael for organizing this activity.
